oh forgot a picture!

our breakfast table on weekends :)

all toppings for bread

Frühling. Spring

a typical "Oktoberfest" mug in the trailer

me, melissa, and saskia -finally spring!

Frohe Ostern!

SORRY!

germans cannottttt believe we dont ride bikes everywhere and dont understand how we drive with cars when we want to go somewhere, and also find it outrageous that the drinking age is 21.

oh and happy easter! germans do the egg hunting thing here too and basically the same.

in germany, when someone turns 30 and isnt married or engaged yet they have to sweep in front of the town church until a virgin girl is kissed...
and when someone turns 25 they get cigarette boxes hung all over outside their house or socks.

i saw the socks thing twice this week! but not the sweeping hahah

im also going hungary my last week here!

and berlin with my program in june :)

also everyone of my friends here including the 18 year olds get an ALLOWANCE every week. i could NOT believe that, and even the ones who work!

some things dont change

so i had to bake "muffins" aka actually cupcakes but they call them muffins
because i made my first basket in basketball like a couple weeks ago, so i had a mix and just had
to add milk and eggs. but they turned out all lopsided and i put too much water in the sugar for the frosting. so i really havent changed too much

im going to münster tomorrow for the night! :D staying with another exchange student !

here are some songs that every german knows:

and germans tend to listen to a tonnnn of remixes

sonntag, valentins tag!

I dream in german !

german teens often go to discos
and i went last week ( i-n-d-e-x.de )
it was supperr fun

valentines day is kind of celebrated here but not nearly as much as at home

i did a work experience at the elem. school on my street and it was a ton of fun working with all the little kids. i taught them words that had to do with houses like window, roof, door, grass, and so on.

little kid, "Do people have to go to school everyday in Africa?"
me, "in Africa?"
kid, "yeah, where you come from, Afrika"

another little kid at the end of the day, "Rachel where are you going?"
me, "Home"
kid,"home?"
me, "yeah, home. school is over."
kid, "so does that mean you fly here every morning just to help us here and then home every night?"

theres a game called "Kloatscheeten" that germans play in winter where you have two teams and a big wagon and then two balls and you have to roll your teams ball as far down the street as you can and when you all decide to stop playing the team whos ball is farthest away, wins...
but the rules are shaky cause you have to drink the whole time. pictures below :
